In this article “Should 16-year-old drive?”, talks about how researchers think the age limit for driving should be increase because they think more peoples live would be save. The article also talks about other peoples opinions on this topic and also have some statistics from other resource to back up this topic.

For example the article had stated, “I don’t think it matters what age you are,” the Hinsdale Central High School sophomore said Monday before hitting the road for her driver’s education class, “as long as you have the practice and experience.” Another example from the text is “The teenage brain also is particularly vulnerable to distraction and peer pressure, and is undergoing explosive development. The front portion of the brain- which includes control of impulses, judgment and decision- making, and the coordination of multi-tasking matures deep into the 20’s, research shows.” Another quote from the text is “A combination of factors contributes to make teenagers poor drivers. Much of it centers on the complexity of driving and teens’ tendency to speed more and use seat belts less than older drivers. My last example from the text is “I’ve driven with some people who are horrible drivers even though they’ve been driving for a while.” Moore said . “And I’ve driven with people who haven’t been driving for very long but are pretty good. Some people are ready, and some people aren’t.”

I think the age 16 is a good age to get your driving licenses because at 16 everybody be looking forward to being able to drive and having a car. But some 16 year olds do be ready to take on the responsibility to get behind the wheel and be a safe driver. But you do have some that isn’t ready. I think all teenagers shouldn’t be penalized for other acts also. I also think that they should just keep the age limit at 16-years-old forever.

If they do change the age limit, how old would you have to be to get a drivers licenses? Would they have the same rules, where you have to have a learner’s permit for 6 months? Would you be able to take the learner’s permit test and driving test on the same day?

In the article “Mayor Nutter Joins the President in calling for keeping middle- class tax cut” is about how Mayor Nutter and President Obama trying to keep taxes the same for middle and lower class families that make less than 250,000 a year because these middle and lower class wouldn’t be able to pay the increase of taxes because they can hardy pay their bills or put food on the table. So they trying to fight against the new law that’s trying to get establish.

For example the article had stated, “Taxes payers making less than 250,000 should not see their taxes go up,” Nutter said after he and 13 other mayors met with Vice President Biden. “If you have one thing that everyone agree on, there’s no reason not to do that one thing now.” Another example from text is “Nutter’s comments as he stood outside the west wing highlighted his on going role as one of Obama’s most visible allies, having served as one of the president’s top surrogates during the election. He also heads the U.S. Conference of Mayors. On Thursday he carried Obama’s message on the most critical policy debute of the moment.” My another quote from the text is, “Both parties agree that tax cuts that are about the expire for those less that 250,000 should be extend, which would spare 98 percent of taxpayers a tax increase Jan 1.” My last quote from the text is, “I think the American public is going to demand action" now that the election is over, Nutter told reporters. "When people know that there is one vote and one action that can benefit 98 percent of the American public, I think most Americans are going to wonder, 'Why don't they take that action now?' "

He added, "Where I come from, at least, if everyone agrees on something, there's no reason not to do it."

I think they should pass this policy because most middle and lower class is struggling and they can hardly feed there families or pay their light bill or any other bills they have. They should also pass this policy because the rich aka upper class have money ,they don’t have to worry about is they going to be able to eat the next day or is their lights going to be on or off. So the upper class should have to pay a little more then middle class.

What if they don’t pass the policy, is they going to figure out a lower percentage the middle-class would have to pay from the upper? After all this debuting do Obama and these mayors think they really have a chance at trying to get the government to keep the policy the same or lowering it for middle class? If the policy chance how long would it take before it goes into affect?

Yay! Boo! So!

In the article “Yay! Boo! So! ? Reaction to Obama win” is about a reporter from the Philadelphia Daily news named Peter Mucha had went around Philadelphia. Asking random people on the streets about what they thought about President Obama winning. Some what was ok with him winning, some was happy about him winning, and some was outrage about him winning.

For example in the article it had stated, “I’m thrilled to death,” said Barbara Drucker,61, a Collingswood flight attendant. Another quote from the text is, “I’m not happy,” said Chuck Rihl, 51, of Haddon Heights, in his van outside the Wawa. “I haven’t had a job in over a year.” Another quote from the text “I knew Barack was going to win,” said Jackie Harrison, 45 of Coatesville, in center city on her was to her job as a case administrator at bankruptcy court. “I think he’s more trustworthy. He seems more of a person.” My last quote from the text , “I think the storm put him over the edge,” said Len Burkhardt. These are the reasons why the article was based on mixed feels from random people on the streets about the elections.

I’m happy Obama won because he made president again, and also because he’s going down in history again for being the first black president to be elected back into the white house. I’m also happy because he seem like he really want to fix the economic and he is really about making a better living for the lower, upper, and middle class. But especially the lower and middle class. With Romney I wasn’t sure what his points really was and he was trying to take away family planning, and I think he should make them type of choices for women. I’m also glad Romney didn’t win because at the elections that night when he had to give his speech he going to say he only wrote one speech because he thought he was going to win, which he didn’t he had to give a loser speech. Like how he know he was going to win the election. He was to cocky for me.

Did these people Peter interviewed, did they even vote? What made Peter really care to do an article on this topic? How did Peter feel about Obama winning the election? Who did Peter vote for?

“Will Climate Change Get Some Respect Now”

In the article “Will Climate Change Some Respect Now?” talks about the different changes in the weather in the past years. The article also talks about research that people did to find out that the climate is changing. This article also use President Obama and Mitt Romney campaign trail because Nicholas D.Kristof , Columnist, and the New York Times thinks the change in climate is an important topic that should be talked about.

This article had listed several reasons of why the changing climates is important and need to be brought to people’s attention. For example the article had stated “For the extreme hot weather of the recent past, there is virtually no explanation other than climate change.” James E. Hansen ,a NASA climate scientist , recently wrote in the Washington post. Another quote from the text that was stated “Sandy was particularly destructive because it was prevented from moving back out to sea by a “blocking pattern” associated with the jet stream. There’s debate about this, but one recent study suggested that melting sea ice in the Arctic may lead to such blocking”. The article also had stated “Democrats have been absent on climate change, but Republicans have been even more stubborn. Their failure is odd, because in other areas of national security Republicans pride themselves on their preparedness. Romney doesn’t want to wait until he sees an Iranian nuclear weapon before acting, so why the lack of acting on the climate change?” My last quote from the text is “There are no easy solutions, but we may need to invest in cleaner energy, impose a carbon tax or other curbs on greenhouse gases, and , above all ,rethink how we can reduce the toll of a changing climate. For example , we may not want to rebuild in some coastal areas that have been hammered by sandy”. These are example of why this article talks about why climate change is importanting and why it needed to be brought to people attention.

I think in this article they shouldn’t had use Obama and Romney campaign to get a point across. But I do agree that climate changes is important because one day the united states is going to have a really bad hurricane to where its going to effect every state. I think when that happen everybody is going to lose their houses and cars. I also think some people is going to die from the really bad flooding and from getting hurt. For example like the people that live near the shore they might become another hurricane Katrina story.

What motived this article to come to the light and give people this knowledge about climate change? What made Nicholas D. Kristof to make an argument about the importantness of the climate change? Out of all the research Nicholas did is any of the information is at less 90% dependable?
