The article” Studies Find More Students Cheating, With High Achievers No Exception” is about studies that people took about the most competitive schools like Stuyvesant high, Air force academy and Harvard.
The studies showed that these school cheat the most and have a high rate of students cheating. Even the smartest kids with all A’s was cheating more than the kids with D’s or C’s. In the article it says “Internet access has made cheating easier, enabling students to connect instantly with answer, friends to consult and works to plagiarize.” it also says “When you start giving take-home exams and telling kids not to talk about it, or you let them carry Smartphone’s into tests, it’s an invitation to cheat.”
In my opinion students cheat with or without the internet. I think some students cheat in ever school. So in these schools I’m not surprise because to get into these schools you have to be the best and they just cheat to become what of the best. An the student that’s get good grades may cheat to keep their grades up.
This article reminded me of my old school some students cheated because they didn’t study or just wanted to do well in that class. Even though it was the wrong thing to do some students did it anyway. My class had 37 students so it wasn’t like the teacher can see who was cheating and who wasn’t. But the worst thing about cheating was that the answer you had got might not been the right answer or you had to do a few more steps to show how you had got the answer.
This article also make me wonder how bad cheating has gotten. Do these students cheat because they really just don’t want to do the work? Or is it because they don’t understand the work and need help? Maybe I can ask some of my friends and find out the answers.
Good post with excellent commentary at the end. However, remember that the article does not say that the high achievers are cheating "more." They are cheating just as much. 95
