"Philadelphia Superintendent Identifies schools he intends to close"

In the article "Philadelphia Superintendent Identifies schools he intends to close" by Kristen A. Graham talks about some high schools, middle, and also some elementary schools that is intending to be shut down in the up coming June. The article also talks about closing programs to save money. The article also stated where some of these schools will relocate at.

For example the article had stated, "Overall, 22 elementary, four middle, and 11 high schools, in nearly every neighborhood of the city, would close if Hite's recommendation are adopted by the Schools Reform Commission, which will vote on the shutdowns in march." Another example from the text is, "Thirty-seven buildings would close for a savings of about 28 million, money the nearly broke district says it needs to survive." Another example from the article is, "Academics are also a major consideration in the changes, officals promised. The schools targeted are largely under-enrolled and underperforming."Another example from the text is, "Communications Teach High in Southwest Philadelphia would be move into Bartram High, and Robeson High into Sayre." My last example from the article is, "Next year, Stawberry Mansion students would be sent to Benjamin Franklin High."

I think they shouldn't shut down these schools because they is spenting more money then less, because for the students that didnt need a transpass to get to school might need one when they relocate. I also do think they shouldn't because they are just making the class size bigger, and also because it would be harder for most students to be on task and get their work done if its 32 students in the class talking. I think they shouldn't shut down the schools also because it might be hard for some students to adapt to the change, because some might be used to a small school and if they have to be mixed in with a biggger school it can be hard to get use to the change. It's also not a good idea because it can be hard for some students to get to school because they were so use to their old bus routes.

This article reminded me of a time when my old school had burned down and we had to relocate to a new building in North PhillY, and it was hard for me to get use to not being able to walk around the corner to my school. I had to ride a school bus to get there, but it was hard because the first day I had to look for my bus number and when we had gotta to the new school it was hard to adapt to the environment because nothing we in place and our teachers didnt know where any of their teaching supplies was. It was also different because i had to find the restroom, lunchroom, gym and everything else. So I understand how these students will feel when they relocate to another school.
